Weight perception analysis using pseudo-haptic feedback based on physical work evaluation

Introduction: Since kinesthetic cues are not present in virtual environments, users have difficulty feeling the heaviness of objects. To address this issue, pseudo-haptic approaches been proposed to illusorily induce weight objects through user’s visual sensory system. Methods: In paper, we used two methods impression objects’ heaviness. One relies on direct modification control-display (C/D) ratio when lifting objects, and other depends controlling based a velocity restriction. We innovatively measured each approach’s efficiency by analyzing physical work as an objective metric. addition, Borg CR10 measure users’ hand fatigue during experimental phases. Results: Our findings discussed terms individual behavior different methods. Furthermore, weight-lifting behaviors were compared same real-world behaviors.
